AgentMail Problem (SQL2K)

Hi,
I use Microsoft outlook as MAPI client. On my own computer, when the outlook
is open, both SQL Mail and Agent Mail can use the file of mail profile to
send email. But on one of client's computer, when outlook is open, it locks
the file of profile and both SQL Mail and Agent Mail fail when try to
connect to profile. When I close outlook, they can access profile. This is
strange behavior that I had never seen elsewhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you are logged in interactively using some other account, you might be in for some problems.
Anyhow, I recommend Outlook 2000. Or actually, I don't recommend SQL Mail at all
(http://www.karaszi.com/SQLServer/info_no_mapi.asp), since it causes so many of these problems...

After Sql 2005 Install, Sql 2000 Still There

Hi.

I just downloaded and installed Sql 2005 from the MS site.
I see that my instance of Sql 2000 is still on the same computer.
I assumed that Sql 2005 would upgrade but it didnt. Should I
simply delete my instance of 2000 or will this cause complications?

That depends on how you opted to do your installation: as a new instance
or an upgrade. Since you say that you downloaded SQL 2005 from MS,
I assume that you installed SQL Express, which by default is installed
as a named instance, SQLEXPRESS.

I would keep both instances, as you may want to compare SQL 2005 to
SQL 2000.

After restoring MASTER database, can't start SQLServer Service: Configuration block version 0 i

Now, I checked and verified that my backup version of SQL Server is the same as the version installed on the computer I'm restoring too.

I have SQL Server on a production machine that I backed up and want to test a full restore on a dev machine to make sure it will work when I need it to.

Now that I've run the restore command on my tape backup and go to restart the SQL server service I receive:

Configuration block version 0 is not a valid version number. SQL Server is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall.

I'm afraid I don't understand why this is happening. If the builds are the same, then shouldn't restoring the MASTER database have worked normally and I'd be able to restart the service now?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

If the service cannot be started, you must rebuild the

system databases, adding information that has been lost by attaching existing tables and recreating

objects.

After this, Restoring the master database when SQL Server is accessible

With master database accessible, you should start SQL Server in single-user mode and then restore your copy of the

master database from your most recent full database backup in the usual way, as described in the

#1 - Start SQL Server in single-user mode.

However, you are saying those were not the proper commands and switches to use during the reinstallation?

(Also I didn't want to specify an SA account and password, I wanted to use windows authentication but didn't see an option for that).

Anyway, I tried rebuilding and that DID work.

But when I restored the master database, I was back where I started.

I KNOW the database installations are the same version as I did SELECT @.@.VERSION on both and they match.

So I don't understand why restoring a tape from one server to the other causes the other server to throw this error when the versions of the server do appear to be the same.

when starting up blue window comes up with "Begining dump of Physical memory"
can anyone help me fix?
You should contact Microsoft Product Support ASAP. Blue screens could be
caused by bad hardware, drivers or Windows bugs.

After computer name changed ...

Hi,
We have database server that runs on SQL Server 2000
Enterprise Edition with SP3.
The computer name changed from DEVA-DB09 to DEVB-DB09.
Now, when I issue the command select @.@.servername in SQL
Query Analyzer, it returned DEVA-DB09, but the computer
name is DEVB-DB09. So my scheduling jobs cannot add,
update, or delete.
In SQL Query Analyzer I issue the following command:
DECLARE @.srv sysname
SET @.srv = CAST(SERVERPROPERTY ('Servername') AS sysname)
UPDATE sysjobs SET originating_server = @.srv
Now I can add, update, or delete the scheduling jobs. My
question is: How can I change the SQL Server name from
DEVA-DB09 to DEVB-DB09 when I issue the select
@.@.servername.

We have database server that runs on SQL Server 2000
Enterprise Edition with SP3.
The computer name changed from DEVA-DB09 to DEVB-DB09.
Now, when I issue the command select @.@.servername in SQL
Query Analyzer, it returned DEVA-DB09, but the computer
name is DEVB-DB09. So my scheduling jobs cannot add,
update, or delete.
In SQL Query Analyzer I issue the following command:

SET @.srv = CAST(SERVERPROPERTY ('Servername') AS sysname)
UPDATE sysjobs SET originating_server = @.srv
Now I can add, update, or delete the scheduling jobs. My
question is: How can I change the SQL Server name from

I find that many login names in the Manager Studio is still prefixed with
